Greensboro Elementary School is located within the town of Greensboro Florida and is a part of the Gadsden County School District.  The town of Greensboro is in the rural part of Gadsden County.  Greensboro is a small town that has one caution light, a post office, two convenience stores and a Dollar General. The Town of Greensboro holds much historical information that contributes to the rich history of Gadsden County. It was a thriving farming town in the 1940s through the 1960s because of the shade tobacco industry. When it was no longer financially viable to grow shade tobacco Greensboro businesses closed and relocated.  GES sits at the heart of Greensboro and has been through many transitions over the years as the educational needs of students in the Greensboro Community change.    At one time GES served students in Pre-Kindergarten through 6th grade. and students progressed to Greensboro High School from 7th grade through 12th grade.  With school consolidations and school closures GES now provides educational services to approximately 300 students in grades Pre-Kindergarten up to third grade.  Over the past ten years, the school has had a higher teacher retention rate than any other school in the school district.  The retention rate and the percentage of teachers that are ESOL and Reading Endorsed are direct contributions to the academic progress of the school for the past ten years.  We have earned 3 As, 3 Bs, 3 Cs and 1 D over the past 10 years that were graded.    We are a feeder school to the neighboring middle school which is West Gadsden Middle School.  In our efforts to provide educational services to all our students we stand firmly upon our motto which is “Where Every Child Matters”.  GES works hard to show children their value and to help them work up to their full potential.
